Winged Liner

Hello lovely reader today’s post is all about the winged liner. I think the winged liner is such a statement look and can really elevate your makeup. Anyone can do it you just have to find the right products and application method that suits you. It’s not a one size fits all. There are many ways in which you can draw your wing. You can use pencil, gel, liquid or eyeshadow. Whatever you find most easy for you. If you are completely new to eyeliner I suggest starting out with an eyeshdow or pencil and a thin pointed brush for applying. Run you pencil along the lashline and gently smudge with your brush to the outer ends of you eye, you can use your finger to stretch the liner up and outwards creating a soft wing. You can use the same method for an eyeshadow.

When using a liquid liner pen I find it easiest to start with the actual wing first and then dragging the pen inwards toward the inner corner of the eye. Try to look straight ahead in a mirror with you head slightly tipped when you do this otherwise you might run the risk of your wing dissappearing into your eyelid, this can occur if you have hooded eyelids. You can then fill in any gaps you might have missed. This takes practice and even I don’t always get it right.

My favouite Eyeliners

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner – This highly pigmented gel based formula comes in a variety of colours that won’t smudge or fade. It is waterproof sweat- and humidity-resistant and lasts up to eight hours. This is perfect for oily eyelids like mine as it will not transfer to your eyelids throughout the day.

Benefit Roller Liner – This matte liquid formula comes in both black and brown. ( choose brown for a softer look ) Featuring a precision felt tip for mistake-free application, the quick-drying, eyeliner glides on effortlessly in one easy sweep. It last up to 24hs ( might be handy if you are an all night raver!) No smudging, flaking or fading.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Eye Pencil – This is one of my most cherished eye pencils. It’s simply the best! It also comes in a variety of shade which just makes things more fun! I love the shade coffee which is a deep brown and the shade bergundy Suede which is an aubergine colour and makes brown eyes pop! It’s water resistent and long wearing and has a handy smudger on the other end. The lightweight, creamy formula glides on effortlessly, delivering rich, stay-true colour that won’t feather or bleed. It also lasts for 24hrs.

Eyeshadow.. when in doubt dig out a dark, matte shadow, I like brown, grey, green, purple and ofcourse black.

Ultimately makeup is meant to be fun and an expression of who you are. Enjoy it, experiment with it and know that there is no right or wrong way to apply it. It’s your face and you need to feel comfortable and happy in your look.
