For The Love Of Highlight

A good highlighter adds a subtle glow to the skin bringing light and dimension to features. It shouldn’t leave you looking like a disco ball unless that is the look you are going for. Where you place it is just as important otherwise you could end up drawing attention to fine lines or textured skin. You will also want to consider the undertones that compliment your skintone. For example, if you have warm undertones or an olive complexion a yellow based hightligher like Becca Opal will work wonders for you. Here are my absolute favourite highlighters.

Delilah Pure Light Compact Illuminating Powder in Aura is my number one at the moment. It’s a mix of rose gold, peach, cream and bronze. It’s subtle glow is like a touch of sunlight on the skin. It’s absolutely beautiful watch my YouTube video about it here. This is ideal for mature skins as it won’t settle into lines and wrinkles.

Becca Opal is a gorgeous champagne shade that is perfect for warmer skintones or darker complexions. It’s buttery soft, smooth and imparts a beautiful golden sheen making skin look lit from within. Great for any age.

MAC Mineralize Soft & Gentle is a cool tone highlight, great for very pale skin of neutral undertones. It has a pearly pink iridescent glow that really stands out. Perfect for nights out when you want your cheekbones to be seen by all.

The Balm Manizer Sisters – Three highlighters to suits every skintone. You have Mary-Lou Manizer which is the champagne shade, Cindy-Lou Manizer a peachy/pink shade and Betty-Lou Manizer a sunkissed bronze. I like to use the bronze on my eyes and mix the other two for cheeks.

bareMinerals Clear Radiance All Over Cheek Colour is excellent for porcelain skin, that real English Rose. It has a pearly pink shade that looks very natural and luminous without the high shine. This is a lovely daily face highlight and the most subtle of them all.

Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer is a liquid highlight that you can mix with your foundation for an inner glow or apply with fingers to tops of cheekbones.

Do you have a favourite highlighter?
